Does He Drink Coffee?
An update on the five soap bar parlay, AKA the fivefecta — the feat that has everyone from international diplomats to toothbrush re-bristlers on pins and needles awaiting news. The bold stroke of derring-do that makes Ernest Shackleton look like a wino taking a nap in a hammock.

Speaking of Ernest Shackleton, Larry firmly cops to not caring for boats, while stopping just short of saying exactly why. Hear Larry defend Barry Bonds then compare him to Babe Ruth. And he ain’t talking about home runs.
Learn which Greek mythological figure Larry currently resembles. And no, smart guy, it’s not Dionysus.
This week’s show has most baffling show title to date, you say? It, like Larry himself, will make sense when you get to the end.
Quote of the week: “We did it! You go clean!”
Vocabulary builder word of the week: “Fugue state.”

The photos that Larry does every episode are the best I’ve ever seen. Pure comedy, I say! Just his expression gets a better chuckle outta me than most any other show!
Anyhow, I am very concerned about the five-fecta…does she hold together? Has a sliver of Irish Spring jumped ship in Shanghai?

I’m not sure that words can express how much I appreciate Larry Miller. Everyone in Hollywood should be so gentle and smart. Scratch that, everyone period should be.

The wistful joke: not a big laugh, but tremendously satisfying. You mentioned you admire The Christmas Story, and I think you equaled that — lots of color, sometimes a fast pace, but slow during the important parts; then you left us thinking and wishing for more. (Is it ever possible to “Go clean”?)
I enjoyed it immensely. Maybe it’s a well-honed bit from one of your shows? I don’t know. But if not, then that’s a winner. Ship it!

Thanks for the weekly entertainment Larry…Happy Holidays to you and the crew…
Pour it like ya know me….

I love Larry’s podcast as much as any other. Thank you so much for doing the show.

I know the ringtone but can’t place it, it is driving me crazy!
Hot Nikks
I know I heard that ringtone in Austin Powers as a ringtone. But I doubt that was the 1st time it was used.

Thank you for simply making us think and laugh.

There is something beautiful about the philosophy of intentionally scratching your new car on it’s maiden voyage. It’s kind of a declaration of “This is now Mine! and this proves that I can’t have nice things!”
I just couldn’t bring myself to do that to my own car.
Great story and great podcast.
P.S. – Larry, I’m sure we’d all love to hear more stories about working on Christopher Guest films.

The Ringtone is from Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery. I don’t know if it was in anything before that and they spoofed it, but that is where I know it from.

Love your show Larry.

I am not sure if “it” is something that I lack, or have too much of, but Larry, stories such as “going clean” reduce me to a sobbing, smiling mess that my wife, and prehaps myself, will never understand.
Please have a wonderful Holiday.

By the way, the classes at Fugue State wont get you a great job.

The ringtone is from “Our Man Flint”. It is considered the finest of all movie phone ringing sounds.

P.S. Sorry about the Jets!

That was a beautiful story. The imperfection of life… Thanks for sharing, Larry!

Adam always talks sbout the nicest guys in Hollywood (John Ritter, Henry Winkler) but I think Larry Miller should be at the top of that list! Sweet, considerate, intelligent and a true gentleman! Your stories are always enjoyable and often have an important message. Thanks Larry … Nominum quid geminus!

Great photo!!

Larry you are an amazing story teller, “going clean”, I loved it when you said and I paraphrase “perfection is for the other side”, let’s rejoice in all that is imperfect about being human.
Nominum quid geminus!

How do I get Larry’s theme song as my ringtone? Am willing to pay serious cash.
Greg
I agree with Larry’s comments on con men. I work in a prison and have seen that “If I could eat you I would” look.
Doug
Damn you Tony.. you beat me to it. The ringtone is from “Our Man Flint” and “Austin Powers”. Austin was a huge fan of Flint and he was watching “In Like Flint” in one of the movies.
Larry,
I can’t tell you enough how much I enjoy the true honesty and humor you bring to your podcasts. I listen to them and think of Polar Bears Drinking coke and little kids trying to buy beer at a 7-11.
Happy Holidays to you and your family!!
Cheers,

Larry, Thanks for another entertaining show! Also, I have to say nice try on going for the mythical 6th bar of soap! I guess you were not aware of Einstein’s lesser known theory of five Ivories. It’s not as well know as his theory of relativity, but it’s been verified with recent advances in quantum physics that the 6th bar is only achievable in a an absolute vacuum. Thus I proclaim this event forever be known as Miller’s folly.

Larry, Almost forgot, please give us a heads-up on the show when you are coming out east so some of us can catch your show … I was bummed that I missed you at Foxwoods since I only live an hour away … next time!
Pete
Of course, as mentioned above, the ringtone is that of “Our Man Flint”. The funny thing is that is also my ringtone and when I was hearing the episode and heard the phone ring, I thought it was my phone, but no, nobody was calling. Then, I thought, hay alright! Larry Miller also has that ringtone! Perhaps this is why I really like the guy, and even though I don’t know him, I’d love to have a cocktail with him. Perhaps there is even an undiscovered personality type: Type Larry. And perhaps most of us fans are of that type. Anyway if people can change time with enough votes, they can add Personality Type Larry to the Psychology books.
All the best,
Pete

If you have android phone, download the Mabillo app, search Austin Powers, it is the Austin Powers Car Phone ringtone

Sic itur ad astra, Icarus!

Just a point of information: Icarus didn’t craft the wings. His father, Daedalus, did.
Love the show!

Larry,
I could only say it feels weird to called you by your first name. I grew up calling the grown ups by their their last name, like Mr. Miller. Of course its your choice.
I just got back from night school and I’m beat. So, I am having a beer for you, then another for me. Just wanted to tell you that I have been wrong about you for the last few years. I have only seen you as a bad guy in movies, till you began this podcast. I down load you on my iPods and listen to you every day at work. I tell you… it makes my day. I love listening you. If I have a bad day at work or at school, I can just listen to you. Love your show, and now I am looking for all the movies you have appear or done. I just finish washing a movie called “The Six Wives of Henry Lefay.” You die right off. What the hell? No, I’m just kidding. But you die way to fast. Any ways… Love your show. By the way… my mom has been doing the five-fecta for years. As long as I can remember. She only made it to 5, but it was usable. Any ways… keep up the great work.

Claire, I am a clown when I chose to be. It entails about an hour of preparation in solitude and half an hour for the costume and makeup. It is a transcendental experience, and when I am there in front of a crowd I become someone else. It’s a true thrill for me. I enjoy bringing tears of joy to my young friends on those sunny afternoons. But those are the moments I chose to be a clown, I don’t want people here confusing that with my journalism. That’s just wrong.
