I Love A Buffet And Other Life Lessons
Buffet, as a concept, is the one thing that ties all Americans together, so says Larry. Also hear how Larry taught his son a valuable life lesson with his favorite instructional tool — a pie. (Who are we kidding? Larry’s favorite everything is a pie.)
Podcast: Play in new window | Download
Larry talks about the lengths he’d go to in order to save his wife’s life and why that answer isn’t good enough for her. Get introduced to the latest food measuring increment. Not the cup, not the liter, but the bucket.
Find out why Larry’s great great Grandmother stopped speaking to his great great Grandfather — for 62 years. Larry admits to being lured into purchasing a cheap pair of sneakers and somehow relates it to Guys and Dolls.
And Larry finally decides which Latin expression we will use on the Larry Miller Drinking Society coat of arms!
Quote of the week: “They have a whole room just for bacon.”
Vocabulary builder word of the week: “Hornswaggled.”

And to all those people who know who they are. Hope you can make it out to St. Louis in the future, keep up the great work, it’s what I pretty much look forward to on Wed or Thursday.

Larry is comedic genius!!! Movie studios should put out a DVD collection called “Scenes with Larry Miller Because the Rest of the Movie Doesn’t Matter.”

Bravo. Larry is getting better ever week. I wish his spot was more involved on Adams Podcast.

Never spoke to him again? That’s the best deal he could have ever imagined. Where do I send my check?

Thanks so much for doing this. I look forward to it every single week. Your show has replaced quite a few as the number one “oooooh! A new one!” show.

Thank goodness. I’ve been thinking about Larry in the shower. I’d really rather prefer not to…

Larry love the show, more than all others (except DoT). You are like an edgier Garrison Keeler.

My question (about the Latin motto) is — did the Romans have question marks? I took Latin in high school, and I don’t remember.
All I remember is “puer” (boy), “puella” (girl), and “agricola” (farmer). Also, “In Hoc Signo Vinces” (Marlboro). Hard to make a complete sentence with that, let alone a question.

You know what those pies tasted of? INTEGRITY!
I’m so glad Larry Miller didn’t accept the “celebrity” pie. I’ve said it before, about a different incident Larry related (in “Reason” magazine, I think): Larry Miller is an everyday hero.

Love hearing larry’s stories and philosophies on little things in life..”oh so what if it’s too much food.”
Oh and BY THE WAY, loved the line, “If you walked out of bed today and you had a job to go to, and a home to come back to, and someone there who cares about you, folks, the game’s over, and you’ve won.” Just great.
Marko
So true, Jen. I used that quote (with credit to Larry) on my family’s annual Christmas letter.
