Like A Klingon At A Sweet 16 Party
Larry tells tales of his youth, drinking flaming shots and having to explain the inevitable aftermath to his parents. We hear about how much Larry loves, “The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance.” Then we hear Larry’s recital of Robert Frost’s “After Apple Picking.” And how he felt like a Klingon, of course.

All right, gentlemen.
How is it that “Don’t do that or your whole head will explode like a melon!” was not chosen as Quote of the Week?
Love the show, every week.

Now I may be thinking about this too much, but after the fifth repetition of “151 Rum,” I had to look it up. Bacardi started bottling the stuff in ’81. Now if this story happened when Larry after he graduated college, that would be in the mid-seventies… before 151 Rum was made.
Was there a different brand of 151 Rum back then? Is this two different stories mixed together? Or is this one of those “don’t let the facts get in the way of a good story” story?

I’m glad you mentioned Lee Marvin in “liberty Valance.” Man, he is so EVIL in that movie! So hateable!
I always admire actors who can be a hero or villain equally well. Marvin is a believable upright, righteous hero, and he’s a believable wretched villain. Richard Boone, a regular “knight without armor” as a hero, is also very hateable as a villain. Likewise Raymond Burr. And many others really…

THE MAN WHO SHOT LIBERTY VALANCE is my favorite western film, hands down.
What beef do you have with boy basses?
