Always answer quickly when it’s right. Never answer quickly when it’s wrong. Always be willing to fold a winning hand. These 3 lessons are Larry’s gift to you! (Details and amusing anecdotes follow, of course.)

We hear about how Larry and his sister used to cook breakfast for their mom on Mother’s Day. And speaking of Mother’s Day, visit berries.com to buy gifts for the important moms in your life. Click on the microphone in the upper right and enter the code Larry Miller to get special discounts for TWWLM listeners!
Larry briefly touches on the capture of you-know-who and what it takes to get a drunk teenager to shinny up a lamppost.
Then he talks about his visit to the USS Constitution, commenting on the holes in the side of the ship and the uncomplicated, but necessary function they perform. Also, we hear about the “Larry Miller Level Five Ale” that producer Jeff Fox brewed in Larry’s honor.
Also, as of the recording time of this episode, we’re finally caught up on filling Larry Miller Drinking Society card requests! Thanks to everyone for their patience. And thanks for listening to the show, because you… make me feel like dancing.
And Larry loves Teflon pans. Yeah, you read it right.
Quotes of the week:

Why is the mailbox so complicated, with the swingy-thingy chute and all the warnings printed on it? I feel it’s going to bite me before the letter drops. And it could be so simple, a big bin with a slot.
Why the swingy-thingy? Is that to prevent an industrious degenerate from stealing mail with a fishing rod? That’s a little paranoid.

I LOVE your podcast, Larry!! I only wish it was this DAY with Larry Miller!!

Holy smokes, was that an ad for Russian brides I just saw up top? Hey, God bless. A man’s gotta make a living! Or a Russian gal, too.

On next week’s podcast, will Larry have good news, that he is now back to flipping eggs on his tried-and-true Teflon pans?
(and perhaps let us know the brand name of the “green pans” that victimized his well-intentioned wife?)
Larry ended the podcast with “shimmy up”, the Show Summary writes “shinny up”. Are both accepted usage?
Chris
I’m looking forward to the Ale recipe! I’m a fairly amateur brewer, and I’d like to see if I can get it to turn out.

Its an ad referring to Marina Orlova’s appearance on the Carolla Podcast. She’s the spokeswoman or in cahoots (great work BTW and I wish more people would use it) with the site itself.
Larry, a wonderful podcast, as they all are. Your three lessons or edicts do work for a relationship. I love all your stories. Just wondering if there might have a possible guest pop in every now and then, like a winemaker or a liquor distributor since we’re all having cocktails while listening to this….
Looking forward to the next one great show.

The recipe is now at the bottom of this episode’s description. I didn’t have it on hand when I posted the show, so I apologize for the delay. It’s a purposefully simple, but tasty recipe. I think you’ll have good success with it. — Jeff

Ha! You have an astute ear. Shinny is to climb up, shimmy is more to wobble or cavort. Larry may have meant shinny up the lamppost, or he may have meant shimmying once you’re up there. Either one is a funny mental picture, in my humble opinion.

Properly seasoned cast iron pans will cook eggs and rinse clean with hot water. Seriously. Instead of getting teflon flakes in your food, you get trace elements of iron.

Another great show. Thanks Larry for spreading the fun

Do we start the beer brew off with 2 1/2 gallons of water to make the wart? Still new to brewing, and want to make sure I don’t botch the batch.
Thanks

I rarely do a full five gallon boil. I’ll do 3 or 4 gallons and top it off with tap when it’s in the fermenter. Just keep everything sanitary and you’ll be in good shape. Don’t let the hardcore fussbuckets take the fun out of homebrewing — or anything else! — Jeff

If you have a problem with the download you might try to delete that episode and re-download again. I have not seen anyone have an issue with the download at this time so you may just have caught a ‘Glitch in the Matrix’ that caused the problem. If you are in iTunes, you may have to delete the episode, then unsubscribe then re-subscribe. You can also play it or download it directly from this site.

Wow, Jeff, you just said something I haven’t heard in many years. “Fussbucket!” I think the last time I heard it, my grandmother was the source, and she was calling my little sister one for being, well, incorrigible. It was a nice way to put it, and got the job done (however briefly). I really don’t think I’ve heard anyone use it since.
I love old words, terms, and phrases, and get such a kick out of how you guys are bringing them back into the cultural lexicon.
And that’s just one little bitty reason I love the show. Keep up the great work!
Have a great 4th, and God bless.

Addedum: I meant that in the sense there are so many reasons!
Cheers!
